The 2018 Annual General Meeting and Conference was held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre with Parent Advisory Councils from 9 school divisions in the province represented. For 2018, MAPC changed the event to a one-day conference, which was well received by those in attendance. MAPC also hosted an optional "Meet and Greet" hospitality evening on Friday, May 4th, giving parents a chance to converse with other PAC members as well as MAPC directors and staff.

The entire event gave people the opportunity to connect with other parent groups and celebrate parental involvement in our province! "Building Communities through Reconciliation and Awareness" was the theme of this year's conference and a sense of this was evident as parents listened to Keynote Speaker, Mr. James Favel of the Bear Clan Patrol. Mr. Favel quickly built rapport with the audience as he gave us a candid look at the issues affecting several communties in our province and how we can be part of the solution.

The day also included an awards ceremony to celebrate parental involvment in Manitoba Schools. Congratulations to the 2018 award recipients!

Call for Resolutions 2018 is now closed

Every year, parents serving on school councils discuss educational issues they want to see addressed by the Manitoba government. They record these ideas in “statements of intent” by submitting a resolution for change. Proposed resolutions are reviewed by Manitoba Association of Parent Councils’ (MAPC) membership and voted on at our Annual General Meeting. If passed, these resolutions become part of MAPC position statements. New position statements are submitted to the Minister of Education and Advanced Learning for review and used to promote our position with other decision makers in Manitoba’s education system.

Your Parent Advisory Council must be a current MAPC member in good standing to propose a resolution). Please click here to download the guidelines to assist your PAC in making a submission.

The deadline for submitting a resolution is Friday, February 16, 2018.
